Headlines App Reviews

A good start!

For someone whos familiar with what RSS is, its very easy to use. However, someone who doesnt necessarily know how to find an RSS feed url and paste it into the preferences window may have some issues. Would also be nice to have a search tool to add new RSS feeds.

Looks Great, but Under-Powered

I like the simple, old-school newspaper feel. Clean and uncluttered. Adding a few basic features would make Headlines much more usuable: - Ability to open an article in a tab or default browser window instead of *only* in the Headlines window - Ability to mark feeds or feed items read without opening them - Visual cue for when an item has been read/marked as read - Groups, perhaps laid out like newspaper sections - Customizable fonts and/or themes A good start. Looking forward to the next version.

Good Idea - No Ad Block in Browser Module

Very cool to have RSS feeds organized like this. However, when you click out to a headline the app will load the page internally. Obviously that is what it should do, however the page now displays all the Ads from the website. I use Firefox and Adblock to block out ads from websites. Probably wont use this too much now that I have to see the ads on stories. Maybe if they integrate an adblock option?

Good, more features please

-be able to view past articles -import Safari and/or Mail RSS feeds. -share article via email link -be able to save articles by bookmarking them, or open by opening in preview so that they can be saved as pdfs.

whe we can add google account it is 5 star

each rss reader must have google reader ability and this is bad for this app i hope in next update i seen this ability and send 5 star for it

Basically worthless

The app does nothing that other functions do better. See other comments. This is an unfinished piece of work, toput it politely.

worthless

Almost no configuration UI, cant adjust font size... Youre better off with a browser.

Not bad for a start...

-Needs to grey out read articles. -The reader page when opening links doest have the ability to magnify text. -A royal pain to add RSS feeds--you should be able to just import from Apple Mail/Safari/Firefox. -Have an option to have number of headlines shown per feed, -Allow user to arrange different feeds better. For 99 cents, a good start, though.

Not yet worth even 99 cents

This reader should be free until improved dramatically... My Yahoo portal blows this thing away... very disapointed.

Works well for a minimal news aggregator.

For the price it works well as a no frills news collector. I really like the newspaper format. One nice thing would be for the read items to gray out or disappear.

Great, simple App.

Awasome app! simple and very productive. five stars for simplicity. Would be good to have a bit more support for multiple pages, where I can keep different types of content separate.

Excellent Idea but need more features

Its a nice touch to have all my RSS feeds as headlines in a single window, but this application can be so much more than just headlines. The simplest addition in the next update can be allowing links to open up in a browser or tabs in the app. Good thought but a lot of work to be done to make it a killer app !!

Great for minimalists

I kind of like the minimalist approach here. It would be great if it supported gestures like 3 swipe left/right to navigate, pinch for font size etc. I also would like to see add to Instapaper and open in Safari. And finally a choice of font type used in home view and if possible for browser view as well. Oh and a readabilty bookmarklet mode just like Reeder for Mac and iPad!

You get what you see!

If you go to preferneces and type in the url- the page will not load the content. It only has what is shown, however, this is a good idea and works well considering what you get- it is fast and easy to use. Only needs to fix ability to load cnn and usa today, for example. Recomended to people that like all kinds of news!

PLEASE ADD CATEGORIES

I big fan of Flud, Pulse, Flipboard, etc. I enjoy those apps because I can arrange my feeds by topic. Right now all the feeds all ganged up on one page. Otherwise, not bad.

Meh

Whats the point of making an RSS app and NOT including the option to sync with Google Reader? Im not sure...

waste of 99¢

Whats good=It does display rss feeds Whats bad=it cost money, it is fixed width, no customization, no imagery(not that this is neccessary, but it is god awful looking) you are better off just using safari.

Better RSS readers are available

The app is crashing or locking up more than it should and there are just too many better RSS readers out there to waste time on this one. If you want a "Newspaper" feel, try "Times". If you just want simple RSS, look at Cyndicate, Newsfire or Newlife. Or just use Feedly online.

Want more

its pretty good. But some things that are annoying 1. Very bland look 2. They put what looks like search bar at the top but its not search bar, its nothing 3. the lay out is only for 6 different pages or else you have big blank spaces 4. I am having some troubles changing the order of the different news sites other than those it is pretty good, and I think its a good concept. It just needs some tweaks

Not bad for a start!

Most desperately needed feature: Need to be able to change the browser font sizes. Something like the usual Cmd-Plus and Cmd-Minus would be great!
